Rave of the week: The Ordinary

Hello darlings!

As you can probably tell by this post’s headline this is a rave! On a Monday? Outrageous!
Seeing as I haven’t got any real hate going on in the product department I decided to actually put out some good vibes for a change.
And let me tell you guys, these things smell of good vibes and happy skin!

This post is not sponsored in any shape or form, these are all my honest opinions.

After getting a hot tip from a lovely Instagrammer I decided to hop on the hype train!
I’ve been using two of their products for 1 1/2 weeks, and I can already see a difference!

So first, I want to talk about the product that eradicated the millia I had from previous bastards. I’m talking caffeine deliciousness in the form of a bottle & dropper
rdn-caffeine-solution-5pct-egcg-30ml

Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG
(pictures borrowed from The Ordinary’s website)

This is pure genius.
So far this product has de-puffed my bags and it seems that the purple/blue hue that I tend to have after long nights of hauling and sniffing snails are slowly starting to run for the hills, or back to the store they came from. Mygod, my sense of humor is amazing. (Shopping)bags under my eyes, get it? Hah! I know it’s bad when I feel like I need to explain it.
It is apparently a known effect that when one mixes caffeine and Epigallocatechin Gallatyl Glucoside (EGCG) from green tea leaves, you get de-puffed, at least according to Deciem’s website. So basically, I could’ve mixed coffee and green tea and mashed it together and applied the goo to my face?
Yeah, probably not, that would’ve been way to easy, I think I’ll just stick to this serum instead.
I’ve actually considered patch testing this on other parts of my face, just to see how it reacts, if I end up doing it, I will let you guys know how it went!

Moving on to the darling close to my heart;
rdn-100pct-organic-cold-pressed-rose-hip-seed-oil-30ml
The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil

Where do I begin with this beauty?
I had basically lost all hope that my closed comedones where ever going to get the hell off my face. The last couple of months I’ve been testing and buying everything I thought was going to help me, but always ended up breaking out or getting even more CC’s. I really thought that I had to accept the fact that I was forever going to be known as Miss Bumpyface.
And let me tell you, that on it’s own is actually pretty sad. I’ve had troubled skin since pre-teen years, and tried endless varieties of skin care products. Most of them just made my skin angry, super oily, and super bumpy. Western skincare is well and all that, but you basically pay a lot of money for products designed to dry your skin out, in hope of luring the sebum and puss out, and we all know that isn’t really how it works.
So when I finally got into Korean skincare there was yet again hope for me and my bumps, or humps, all depending on the size of those bastards.
So I started purchasing everything whitehead related, but the products didn’t really seem to DO anything, they just made my skin feel soft, but didn’t really take care of the problem.
So when I purchased the rose hip oil I was super skeptical, but thought, what the hey!
And let me tell you guys, it is the bomb dot com!
This oil has really helped my skin in the short time I’ve used it, and I’m just super excited about it!
I know it’s a tad far out to call it a Korean skincare product considering it’s from a Canada based company, but seeing as rose hip oil itself is popular in AB skincare, I’ll just go with it!
I’ve gone from having CC’s all the way from my cheekbones to my chin, to just having this contour line that is slowly fading as well, *happydance*
I can’t give full credit to the oil itself, but with the assistance of my Cosrx Galactomyces essence they do one hell of a job!

So far so good, darlings!

I will keep you posted, and there will be a full review up on these good guys when I’ve tested them thoroughly.

Have you tried these products?
Let me know!

Laneige Water Sleeping Mask, the hype.

Hello darlings!

img_8017

So after endless posts about how amazing this thing is, I had to buy it, Stylekorean had an offer on the set, the sleeping mask and the lip mask, and I thought “what the heck!”

But I must say, I don’t see the hype. Don’t get me wrong, it’s delish fish on the skin. You wake up baby smooth and overall it’s a good sleeping mask, but here’s the kicker; it feels EXACTLY the same as the panda sleeping pack, no joke. I felt no difference, and last night I put them both to the test.
I scraped the barrel, or container of the panda, and put it on the left side of my face, the Laneige on the right side, slept like a baby, and woke up this morning.
No difference, the same smooth face, (with a little purging from other products here and there) on both the right and the left side. Shocker, right?
And comparing the Cosdna on both makes me an even bigger fan of the Panda!
Laneige vs Panda
Not that there’s a major difference. Both have irritants/acne but the panda has extracts that my skin seems to like, remember Your Mileage May Vary (YMMV).
What my skin prefers might not be the thing that your skin needs.

img_8020
But don’t get me wrong, I love it, which makes sense considering that I love the panda, only thing I find different between the two is that the Laneige doesn’t spread as easily and it has a blue hue to it, which the panda doesn’t.

I was surprised to discover this. I might not be the first, but I haven’t seen anyone comparing the two, seeing as they’re in way different leagues.
But hey, I’ll empty the Laneige, but I won’t buy it again. I understand why it’s a highly praised product, but if you can get three pandas for the price of one Laneige, I know which one to pick.

I will of course be back with a full comparison post, if that’s interesting?
I just had to inform the interwebs about my shocking discovery, which probably is neither, and has been mentioned a thousand times before.
But there you have it! And that’s the way the cookie crumbles.

When it comes to the lip mask, I like it so far, I’ve tried it two times, it is my first lip mask though, only thing that comes close to this are the different lip scrubs I’ve tried, but then again, two whole different things! I’m interested in trying more lip masks, because it is a nice concept, go to sleep with dry lips, wake up with smooth kissable lips, what more can a girl ask for?

Let me know if you’ve tried these products, and what you thought about them (:

Update: Banila Co’s Miss Flower & Mr. Honey Cream

Hey guys!

Today I decided that it’s time to give you all an update on what’s been going on with the Miss Flower & Mr. Honey Cream from Banila Co. Those of you that read my previous post about this product, already know that I temporarily ditched my Earth’s Recipe Moisture Bound Cream (reviewed) in order to continue my loving relationship with the Miss Flower & Mr. Honey Cream (reviewed). The main reason being that I suspected good ol’ Mr. Honey to be breaking me out! Naturally I wanted to find out if this was the case or if something else was causing the breakouts. As I’ve said before; I REALLY wanted to love the Miss Flower & Mr. Honey Cream, and I didn’t want to stop using it if I didn’t have to.

So what exactly has been going on?
I’m back with an update only 6 days after I began using the Miss Flower & Mr. Honey Cream again! Therefore some of you may guess that my little experiment didn’t go down so well. To those of you who did: You’re right! It didn’t end well…
This time around the cream didn’t break me out, it just didn’t provide enough moisture for my dehydrated combination skin, and accordingly didn’t perform the way I needed it to. In other words, I’m back on the Moisture Bound Cream from Earth’s Recipe. This one’s still not moisturizing enough for me, but it IS the most moisturizing cream I’ve tried so far. I’ll give it that! This whole experience with the Miss Flower & Mr. Honey Cream means that I’m still searching for the perfect moisturizing Cream! Maybe one of the creams I purchased in my last mini haul will have the power to knock out the Moisture Bound Cream? God, I really hope so.

Please let me know if you have tried any creams that are worth mentioning!

Hello, Miss Flower & Mr. Honey Cream…

Hey guys!

It’s now been about a month since I took a break from the Banila Co. Miss Flower & Mr. Honey Cream. I didn’t want to part with this beauty but I was experiencing some breakouts, and suspecting that this product might have been the culprit. So I switched the Miss Flower & Mr. Honey Cream with another cream that was new to me at the time; the Earth’s Recipe Moisture Bound Cream (first impression here) which I have now used for a little over 3 weeks time, reviewed and taken a break from in order to retest my beloved honey…

20170423_173336

If you’ve followed the blog for a few weeks, you might know that I promised to give the Miss Flower & Mr. Honey Cream a second chance and get back to you with an updated review after retesting it for an additional couple of weeks. So that is what’s going to happen now. I’m determined to find out if this product IS in fact causing me to break out or if it’s innocent. Of course I hope that it is, because I REALLY want to love this cream! It feels soo good on the skin, does a great job of moisturizing AND it smells amazeballs.

20170423_173554

So there you go! A little update from me. Until I’ve properly retested it, you’ll get reviews on other products, first impressions of new ones, haul posts, chitchats and more.

Patience is a virtue, and I ain’t got none!

Hello Darlings!

So, I’ve probably eaten my weight in chocolate eggs and foam rabbits this easter, counting the minutes until the next package arrives in the mail. Yes, it’s that bad.

Today’s blog entry isn’t going to be that long or informative or even remotedly funny, because here I am, fingers itching for another cart full of  K-Beauty products, tummy roaring because it wants something other than sugar and saturated fat, and skin pining for new items it can devour like the product loving whore we all know it is!

So, these are some of the goodies I’m expecting;

Some of these were purchased before I learned that CosDna is your best friend, but there is improvement! Now I only want the cute AND the good!
So here we have:

*NEOGEN Dermalogy Real Flower Cleansing Water
* MIZON ACENCE BLEMISH OUT PINK SPOT
* A’PIEU Rilakkuma Collaboration Konjac Jelly Brightening Cleansing Foam
*Missha Calendula Deep Cleansing Foam
* Cloud 9 Blanc De Whitening Cream
* Tony Moly New Egg Pore Set
* TONYMOLY Pokemon Mask Sheet Bulbasaur

And get this, dudelings and darlings, It’s not even all I’m waiting for! So you can imagine the pain deep inside of my skin care soul when yet another day passes and no mail arrives.

Also now, looking at the pictures, this is something one could call an easter-haul; yellow, festive, and I’ve even ordered eggs. All that’s missing in that picture is a chick sitting next to them with her butt showing.
Made me laugh.

So for now that’s all I’ve got in my snail covered easter basket!
Peace & Love

An ever so little chitchat..

Hey guys!

I hope everybody’s enjoying their Easter Holidays so far! I for one will be back home tomorrow night, and ready for some serious blogging 🙂

Until then, I think it’s high time for a little chitchat… 🙂

Me and Mocka want our blog to be a bit different. Yes, this is a K-beauty blog, and yes, there are quite a few of these out there already. But from what I have seen many of these mostly post reviews on already known -and very much hyped about products. Don’t get me wrong, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. And both myself and Mocka will definetely do the same from time to time, maybe even a lot. However, a part of our goal with this blog is to find the more “obscure” alternatives that are hiding out there, and write reviews on them aswell. Not JUST the already “Holy Grails” and the cult favourites.

I know all too well that it sucks when you stumble across a product online that you want to try, so you look for a review everywhere but you can’t find one (at least not a decent one). The result is often that you carry on your search and leave a potential game changing product behind, just because you don’t want to take a chance because well, you’re not made of money. And I think this is sooo sad, because we know that there are so many great products out there, that to some extent get ignored because they’re not cult favourites or in other ways popular.

I guess what I’m saying is that we invite you to request first impressions and reviews on BOTH well known K-beauty products, and not so well known/popular K-beauty products. We’re here to take a leap of faith where nobody else will!
