Update: Banila Co’s Miss Flower & Mr. Honey Cream

Hey guys!

Today I decided that it’s time to give you all an update on what’s been going on with the Miss Flower & Mr. Honey Cream from Banila Co. Those of you that read my previous post about this product, already know that I temporarily ditched my Earth’s Recipe Moisture Bound Cream (reviewed) in order to continue my loving relationship with the Miss Flower & Mr. Honey Cream (reviewed). The main reason being that I suspected good ol’ Mr. Honey to be breaking me out! Naturally I wanted to find out if this was the case or if something else was causing the breakouts. As I’ve said before; I REALLY wanted to love the Miss Flower & Mr. Honey Cream, and I didn’t want to stop using it if I didn’t have to.

So what exactly has been going on?
I’m back with an update only 6 days after I began using the Miss Flower & Mr. Honey Cream again! Therefore some of you may guess that my little experiment didn’t go down so well. To those of you who did: You’re right! It didn’t end well…
This time around the cream didn’t break me out, it just didn’t provide enough moisture for my dehydrated combination skin, and accordingly didn’t perform the way I needed it to. In other words, I’m back on the Moisture Bound Cream from Earth’s Recipe. This one’s still not moisturizing enough for me, but it IS the most moisturizing cream I’ve tried so far. I’ll give it that! This whole experience with the Miss Flower & Mr. Honey Cream means that I’m still searching for the perfect moisturizing Cream! Maybe one of the creams I purchased in my last mini haul will have the power to knock out the Moisture Bound Cream? God, I really hope so.

Please let me know if you have tried any creams that are worth mentioning!

Today’s mini haul!

Hey guys!

I’ve just bought myself four new products, none of which I’ve tried before. Needless to say; I’m very excited and can’t wait to find them in my letter box! As you might be able to tell, I’m not very big on mega hauls. I prefer to shop for the products I want/need in smaller ammounts, and more frequent. Just how I like it!

Here are the products   ↓

Innisfree Orchid Eye Cream:
I bought this product because my current eye cream (Mizon Multi Function Formula Snail Repair Eye Cream) is running very low, and I wanted to try a new one. I’m not unhappy with the Mizon, I’ve just heard great things about the Innisfree Orchic Eye Cream and I’ve been meaning to give that one a try for ages!

kbinn

Scinic Honey All In One Ampoule:
This is another Holy Grail product for many, and that’s why I bought it. It really is as simple as that! Just like the Orchid Eye Cream from Innisfree, I’ve only heard good things about this ampoule, so when I discovered that my current ampoule is nearly empty, I naturally threw the Scinic Honey All In One Ampoule in my basket and ran for the hills! Did I mention that according to CosDna this product has very few irritants?

kbscinic
Etude House Pure Water Baobab Moist Cream:
I first heard about this product through Mocka, which (I think) read about it in a Holy Grail Thread on Reddit. I think…
The Pure Water Baobad Moist Cream from Etude House is from what I understand a gel type cream. I already have enough of these, and I should really focus my energy on finding an actualy creamy cream that will get along with my skin. BUT I’ve heard great things about it, and CosDna says it’s a peach! In other words: I just have to try it!

kbbao
The Saem Jeju Horse Oil Soothing Gel Cream:
When it comes to this product in particular there’s really not too much to say at the moment. There’s no information about it on CosDna, and usually I wouldn’t buy a product that’s not listed on there. However, I read a few reviews on it and quite a few people seem to really like it! Yes, it’s another gel cream. BUT from what I understand, this product is a slightly heavier gel type cream. AND it’s not clear but white-ish, which could mean that this provides more moisture than the usual clear gel cream. There’s only one way to find out; I’m going to put it to the test!

What’s more?

I’m still waiting for a few packages I ordered a couple of weeks ago, but I have a feeling that at least one of them will arrive today or tomorrow! It’s past due! The product I’m taking about is Tonymoly’s The Fresh Phytoncide Pore Gel Cream   ↓

bphytonside

When it comes to this product, I wasn’t completely sure if I needed it. As I mentioned before I already own enough gel creams. However, I know my skin really loves gel type creams as opposed to the more heavy, white, creamy creams, and the one I’ve been using as a day time moisturizer for ages now (the Etude House Moistfull Collagen Water Jelly Cream) just isn’t moisturizing enough. So that’s how I came to look for another alternative, and The Fresh Phytoncide Pore Gel Cream from Tonymoly had great reviews. Plus according to CosDna, this baby has NONE irritants or acne triggers. Of course you can never be sure with any product until you’ve tried it, but I do have high hopes for this bad boy!
The rest of the products are due very soon! I’m taking about the Etude House Curl Fix Long Lash Mascara, the Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum, the Mamonde Happy & Smart Cleansing Tissues and the Skinfood Aloe Watery Sun Water Gel   ↓

If you want to know why I purchased these products you can read about it in this post.

So there you have it! A little update on the products I’m expecting to arrive very soon, and the ones that will arrive in a couple of weeks! Stay tuned for first impressions and reviews of these products in the near future.

Hello, Miss Flower & Mr. Honey Cream…

Hey guys!

It’s now been about a month since I took a break from the Banila Co. Miss Flower & Mr. Honey Cream. I didn’t want to part with this beauty but I was experiencing some breakouts, and suspecting that this product might have been the culprit. So I switched the Miss Flower & Mr. Honey Cream with another cream that was new to me at the time; the Earth’s Recipe Moisture Bound Cream (first impression here) which I have now used for a little over 3 weeks time, reviewed and taken a break from in order to retest my beloved honey…

20170423_173336

If you’ve followed the blog for a few weeks, you might know that I promised to give the Miss Flower & Mr. Honey Cream a second chance and get back to you with an updated review after retesting it for an additional couple of weeks. So that is what’s going to happen now. I’m determined to find out if this product IS in fact causing me to break out or if it’s innocent. Of course I hope that it is, because I REALLY want to love this cream! It feels soo good on the skin, does a great job of moisturizing AND it smells amazeballs.

20170423_173554

So there you go! A little update from me. Until I’ve properly retested it, you’ll get reviews on other products, first impressions of new ones, haul posts, chitchats and more.

The products that didn’t make it

Hey guys! 🙂

In this post I’ll take you through a load of skin care products that I’ve put to the test, but for various reasons lost their place in my skin care regimen. I’m NOT saying that any of these products are bad. They just didn’t work out for me, and I’m going to tell you why 🙂

Included in this post (in no perticular order)   ↓

COSRX AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner
Innisfree Jeju Lava Seawater Deep Essence
Skinfood Royal Honey Propolis Essence
Innisfree Green Tea Fresh Essence
The Saem Urban Eco Harakeke Seed Firming Eye Cream
Innisfree Green Tea Cleansing Foam
The Saem Iceland Water Volume Cream
Innisfree Green Tea Balancing Cream
Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask
Innisfree Olive Real Cleansing Foam
Mizon Herbal Orange Blossom Ampoule
Tonymoly Tomatox Magic Massage Pack
Mizon Original Skin Energy Placenta 45
Skinfood Premium Tomato Whitening Moisture Synergy Cream

So let’s get to it!   ↓

COSRX AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner
This toner survived in my skin care routine for about two or three weeks, before I went back to my Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner. I didn’t experience any irritation and it didn’t break me out. It just didn’t do… anything? Well, maybe it DID something, but whatever that might have been, I didn’t see or feel any changes. Oh, and I also hated having to spray my toner onto my face or a cotton pad. But I know this is a Holy Grail product for many. It just wasn’t for me.    ↓

Innisfree Jeju Lava Seawater Deep Essence

I sort of bought this product on a whim. I had never heard of a deep essence before so naturally I wanted to try it. Honestly, I have some mixed feelings about this product. I really liked the feel of it on the skin and the scent. It didn’t break me out or irritate my skin in any other way. I actually used the whole bottle, I just didn’t repurchase it after it was all gone. But now I’m sat here thinking that I might buy it next time I’m hauling, because it IS a nice extra layer of moisture to the skin.    ↓

Skinfood Royal Honey Propolis Essence

When it comes to this essence, I’ve already written a first impression on it, and I said I’d write a full review on it after testing it further, but I don’t really see the point in doing that yet. If you read my first impression, well, my thoughts haven’t changed at all and I can tell they won’t. The container is gorgeous but nothing about the essence itself impressed me. I’ve heard that many people love this product and it probably works great for them, but for me this will be saved as a last resort.    ↓

Innisfree Green Tea Fresh Essence

What I said about the Innisfree Jeju Lava Seawater Deep Essence sort of goes for the Innisfree Green Tea Fresh Essence aswell. This was my first ever essence and I really enjoyed it. I loved the scent, which is similar to the Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum, and I liked the feel of it. I guess I just didn’t repurchase it because it was my first essence, I was new to the K-beauty world and I thought I could find something even better. After all, there really is a whole universe of products out there!    ↓

The Saem Urban Eco Harakeke Firming Seed Eye Cream
If you read my review on this product you already know why it had to go. But for you guys who didn’t read it; basically this eye cream was way too thick and heavy for my eye area and within a week of using it I had full on Milia. This is another product I bought when I was completely new in the AB game and it was my very first eye cream from the K-beauty world. Sadly it didn’t work out and I replaced it with the Mizon Function Formula Snail Repair Eye Cream.    ↓
kbharaaaInnisfree Green Tea Cleansing Foam
This was also one of my very first products from the K-beauty world. I remember getting it after a friend recommended green tea as a soothing ingredient for my sensitive, acne prone combination skin. Plus it was very afforable. I used this cleansing foam for a couple of months before I replaced it. The reason being my face felt dry and tight after using it, which is a shame bacause I loved the scent and it did a good job of actually cleansing my face. It was just too drying on my skin.    ↓
kbgreen

The Saem Iceland Water Volume Cream
I really wanted to love this moisturizer, because the container is gorgeous and the cream itself smells rather good. But it just didn’t “sit right” on my skin. It’s hard to explain exactly what I’m on about, but sometimes when I apply a new product, it just doesn’t feel right? It’s like I can feel it right from the start if a product will break me out if I continue using it. I’ve had this feeling quite a few times and when that happens I usually don’t proceed using said product. Maybe that’s a bad habit of mine? Because I know you’re meant to give a new product a couple of weeks to give it a fair chance, but I just can’t stand that “weird” feeling some products give me. So this cream had to go.    ↓
kbice

Innisfree Green Tea Balancing Cream
This cream was my very first moisturizer from the K-beauty world. I loved the scent, but unfortunately this little bastard broke me out. Oh, and that weird feeling I was on about earlier? Yep. That happened with this one aswell.    ↓
kbinnisElizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask
When I purchased this mask I really liked the consept of it. I mean, a mask that bubbles up to a thick foam after applying it to your face!? HELL YES. But I did end up having mixed feelings about this product after using it four or five times. The mask gave my face a deeper cleanse and it removed dead skin and left my face baby soft! However, it dried me out and I didn’t like the scent at all. Now, I’m a person who’s very sensitive to scents, so I gave it to Mocka to try and she loved it! But as far as I’m concerned I won’t repurchase.    ↓
kbmilky

Innisfree Olive Real Cleansing Foam
This is the cleanser I replaced the Innisfree Green Tea Cleansing Foam with. I was still quite new in the AB game when this happened, and because I liked the scent and consistency of the Green Tea Cleansing Foam, not to mention the affordability, I wanted to stick with Innisfree. But this time I went for the Olive Real Cleansing Foam, as this was meant to be less stripping and more hydrating because of the olive oil. But that wasn’t the case, at least not for me. This cleanser dried me out just as much as the Green Tea Cleansing Foam AND stung and irritated the hell out of my face. GOOD BYE.    ↓

kboliiii

Mizon Herbal Orange Blossom Ampoule
This was my very first ampoule when I was new to the K-beauty world, and I LOVED the scent of it. I even repurchased this product once after finishing the first container. It didn’t cause any irritation or breakouts and it felt nice on the skin. However, it didn’t make a visible difference on my skin (which is what I was after at the time), so I discontinued using it.    ↓
kborange

Tonymoly Tomatox Magic Massage Pack
This is another product that prior to buying it, I had heard a lot of raving about. So when it didn’t do what it promised AND irritated my skin, naturally I was disoppointed. Especially when I wanted to love it so badly! I mean, the container is just… fun?! And the product itself smells sooooo good. But it was mainly the whitening effect I was after, so when I didn’t feel or look any different from using it, it was time for it to go.    ↓
kbtomato

Mizon Original Skin Energy Placenta 45
After I stopped using the the Mizon Herbal Orange Blossom Ampoule, I moved on to the Mizon Original Skin Energy Placenta 45, which didn’t give me any visible results either. Needless to say; I definetely didn’t miss this product after I got rid of it.    ↓

kbplac

Skinfood Premium Tomato Whitening Moisture Synergy Cream
Yet another cream that didn’t live up to my expectations. I didn’t find it very moisturizing, didn’t like the scent, didn’t like the feel of it. And it certainly wasn’t very whitening. Not missed.    ↓
kbskin

So there you have it! These are the products that all had a go on my face, but sadly got replaced. I can’t stress enough that just because I didn’t get along with these, that doesn’t mean that other people won’t like them. Again; I’m not saying they’re bad products. They just weren’t a good match for my skin. I know that some of these are loved by many, and my guess is that they aren’t Holy Grail products for no reason  🙂

My thoughts around the product before buying it, and how I came to actually buying it  ↓

I had heard about the Miss Flower & Mr. Honey Cream looong before I bought it myself. People were raving about it left, right and center, but I thought it was a bit pricey for me, and maybe not necisary? After all I was quite happy with the moisturizer I was currently using, which was the Etude House Moistfull Collagen Water Jelly Cream. The only problem I had with that cream was that it is a gel type cream, and for me personally it didn’t provide enough moisture for my combo skin. I still use it, but only as a day time moisturizer.

Anyway, a while back I found out that I desperatly needed a heavier cream for night time use, something that I knew wasn’t going to be easy. You see, every even slightly heavy cream that I had tried previously, would break me out after a few days of use, and end up in the bin.

So the hunt after the perfect, yet heavy, moisturizer began. I came across quite a few, both “holy grails”, cult favourites and some unknown ones, but none of them were calling my name. I kept coming back to the Miss Flower and Mr. Honey Cream, and so it ended up in my Ebay shopping cart. However after looking it up in CosDna and discovering half a handful of acne irritants, I started having second thoughts. Would it be worth the money? Would it break me out? All I can say is; it ended up in my shopping cart once again, and a couple of weeks later it was in my letter box!
IMG_0607

So I’ve been using the Banila Co. Miss Flower & Mr. Honey Cream for maybe a month now and I have a few things to say about it. Before I get into it I would like to say that I haven’t been using this cream for about a week now. I decided to take a little “break” when I started noticing a small amount of breakouts after using it for a few weeks, just to find out if the cream was causing it or something else. I’m thinking that it’s less likely that the cream is the culprit in this case, because I usually break out long before 2 or 3 weeks og using a product IF I’m going to break out at all.

My guess is that perhaps stress or some other factor is behind the breakout, but since I can’t know this for sure, I’m on this little “break” now. My plan is to start using the cream again in maybe a week’s time, and then report back to you when I know what’s going on. However, I did use it for probably 3 or 4 weeks so I do have a few things to say about it, so far 🙂

From what I understand this cream is ideal for dry and/or dehydrated skin types, but in my experience it works well on combination skin aswell. So I’m guessing people with normal skin could also use this cream. It’s definetely on the heavier side, but that’s okay during the night. If you live in a dry climate or in a cold one like me and my partner here, this is a great alternative because of it’s moisturizing abilities. When I wake up in the morning after using this, my skin feels soft and supple. It feels a lot less dry than before.

The Miss Flower & Mr. Honey Cream is classified as a night time moisturizer and it should be the last step in your night time skin care routine. Some people might use it during the day, but to me it’s exclusivly a night time cream, because it feels and looks quite oily on the skin, and I doubt that it would be suitable for wearing under make up. BUT if you’re going to stay at home one day and/or not going to wear make up, I really don’t see the problem with using it during the day aswell.

Because of the thickness of this cream, a sleeping mask would probably be unnecisary. Alternativly you could layer it a bit thicker than you normally would, for a sleeping mask effect.

As far as the scent goes I love, LOVE, LOOOOVE it! It smells of honey, and it’s just delicious!

The container IS big and heavy, but as long as you don’t take it with you travelling you probably won’t notice that it’s slightly impractial. You’d be busy admiring the design or sniffing the cream.

When it comes to the spatula, I’m sure many find it useful, but I myself never use the spatulas that come with moisturizers. I just find them annoying and they end up lying around bathroom when they should really be in the bin! I know they’re meant to be hygenic, but guess what? I NEVER let anyone including myself touch my creams without having newly washed hands. So we’re all good!

IMG_0609

If you want to take a closer look at the ingredients and what they do, CosDna is great. I always, ALWAYS do this before I purchase a product. I find that it helps me “paint a picture” of how well a product will get along with my sensitive, acne prone skin, and if it is likely to cause any problems 🙂

My ratings after about 3 weeks of use  ↓

Feeling on the skin: 10/10
Packaging: 10/10

What’s my conclusion?
So far I’m really liking this moisturizer. If I can rule it out as the culprit behind my breakouts, when I give it another go in about a week, I will definetely purchase it again! It’s a great moisturizer inside a beautiful container. And the best part? The fact that it smells of honey, and it smells very natural. What’s not to love?

IMG_0623

Like I said before, I’m currently on a short break from this cream, in order to find out if it played a part in breaking me out, or not. I’ll be back with an updated review in a few weeks time. I really hope that the breakouts were caused by other factors, because I do like this cream, and I want it in my routine!

Vicky 🙂
