Double Trouble; A review of both the Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Serum and the Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop!

Yay, a double review!

Hello Darlings, long time no see right?
I know, and since I’m almost sorry, I’ll make it up to you with a double review! I’m a little bit sorry, but you know, summer happened, and the sun, being an utter rarity here in Norway, made me a bit ditsy and forgetful one might say.

Anyway!  Let’s get down and squeaky clean with the info on these lovely supple treats!

So basically I’m going to make it simple today. The reason you’re all getting the pleasure of a double review is because I use these two as a power couple. I find the Vitamin drops to be a bit too heavy on the oily side when used alone, but together they really do the trick!
So let’s just get down to it!

Packaging:
Both these products come in nice subtle containers, leaving the focus to be on what’s actually inside the them, which is what it should be like!
Both bottles are plastic fantastic, so they’re actually very travel friendly, trust me, I’ve tested it out a couple of times this summer, serum bottle road trip! Or not.
The Vitamin drops comes with, yes omg, you guessed it, a dropper! Making it easy to plop out the exact amount you need!
The Soothing Serum has a nifty little pump, where a squeeze and a half should do the trick, plus points for easy peasy packaging.

Texture & Smell:
img_1255.jpg
Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Serum: This is just divine, the scent is a faint citrusy kind that just cuddles your nose and reminds you of summer, for me at least, it’s like a half runny gel, and spreads on evenly and effortlessly, which is nice when you’re a big fan of effortless delicious moisture.
img_1256.jpg
Again, super easy to spread, and it doesn’t take a whole eternity before it sinks into your face.
img_1257
Look at this! Delicious, and of course, even better when applied on a face, screaming for moisture and plumpness!

So! Let’s move on to some vitamin infused oiliness!

img_1258.jpg
Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop: It doesn’t really smell that much, it has a hint of clean, if that makes sense? But hey, as long as it doesn’t give off a scent wanting you to dispose of your afternoon snack, I’m all on board!
img_1259.jpg
This one is a bit runny, so I’d recommend applying it either fast by dripping it directly on your face while staring at the roof and rub it around like a super speedy goddess, or just mix it in with a serum of your liking, makes for a much easier application!
It takes a bit to sink in, and dries a bit oily, which I really don’t like.
img_1262.jpg
I have a theory that when winter time comes around it will be a bit more manageable, but believe me, at this time of year I don’t sweat. I oil. Literally. And who on this rainbow blessed, unicorn loving earth would want to be extra oily? Not moi.

But then again, since it’s not the last step of a routine, you’ll easily cover up the feeling of being a walking oil-diva.

Application:
Cleanse, tone, serum-time! If you’re unsure where to put this in your routine, follow the thinnest to thickest in consistency rule!
img_1254
As mentioned earlier, these two mix very well, at least in my opinion, and when you find a way that works for you, stick to it!
I first tried them separately, and that just made me love the serum, and hate the vitamin drop, so obviously I had to give them both a go together!
The Soothing Serum has really helped for the problem I initially purchased it for, that being irritated and sensitive skin, and of course, some good old fashioned super moisture!

My thoughts on these products?

So if you’ve read this far, and really don’t know what I feel about the product, I can reassure you and say that I’m about to start my third bottle. That’s commitment to a product right there.
When the whole moisture barrier case was starting to improve I introduced the vitamin drop to the routine, it didn’t last more than a week on it’s own, because I couldn’t quite get over the oil madness going on.
But! A K-beauty adventurer never gives up, and I tried mixing it in with other products, first the moisturizer I was using, boy was that nasty. And finally, the Soothing Serum, they were like a match made in heaven, I mean, who wouldn’t want a super duo hydrating and maintaining your face?

So ever since, they’ve been unseperable and they’re still in my daily nighttime routine, the soothing serum gets to be in my morning routine as well, but I personally prefer to only do Vit C when the sun has set, and there’s no danger of getting skin damage caused by the sun and Vitamin C, I’ve heard they don’t get along too well.

Hopefully this will have given you some insight to these products, so I’ll just move along to my favourite part of these posts. Yes darlings, you guessed it, it’s rating time!

Rant of the week; Bad fruit & Bed Linen

Hello darlings!

It’s Monday, which means that I get to rant about yet another product that didn’t quite make it! I just love a good rant, it’s almost as enjoyable as a good sheet mask.
IMG_7667
So today we’re gonna talk about an emulsion that I really wanted to love, but didn’t love me. Hate when that happens.
Remember when I wrote a first impression about it? Click here to read it.   🙂
And yes, you guessed correctly, the pictures used in this post are the same as I used in the first impression, yay, recycling!

Facts first:
Name: Skinfood Premium Peach Cotton Emulsion
Product: Emulsion
Good For: Moisture, Sebum control.
Description: An essence-type moisturizing lotion that replenishes insufficient essential moisture, while forming a smooth barrier and leaving a soft finish to create clean and moist skin. Calamine Powder Pink Bloom™ absorbs unnecessary sebum to create supple skin like a peach without oiliness.
Price: 12-15$ (Ebay, Jolse)

I’m telling you guys, this bastard is a spawn of the fruitdevil. My oh my, why did I ever purchase you?
Well, we started on well, the product smelled great and gave promises that were realistic. It did deliver, at first.
My face just adored this the first couple of days, we got along just fine and I started believing that it could be the start of a long and healthy relationskin. Boy, how wrong was I?
IMG_7675

At first I really loved this product, when I got over the fact that it smelled like acid tripping peaches that actually would like to be candy rather than an extract in a skin care product.
It gave moisture, but never really controlled the sebum, which didn’t really come as a big surprise, considering that it’s a bastard peach.
After a couple of days I started noticing that small bumps made their way to the surface on my forehead, my dear precious forehead that at this point looked like it had been kissed by a herpes infected angel. Which caught me by surprise considering I’ve never had any problems with my forehead, until now.
At first I wanted to blame it on my lack of oil cleansing, but then again, I wasn’t wearing makeup at the time, so I didn’t really see the point of oil cleansing. Anyways, I started double cleansing again to see if it would help the problem, but when it didn’t go away I started to suspect the peach, which was the only new thing I’d added to my skincare routine. So I stopped using it, and my forehead slowly started to clear up, so I drew the conclusion that this pink peach is indeed one rotten piece of fruit.
IMG_7672

I’m just gonna put it out there that it blows that our short fruity affair didn’t work out, because I just love the smell of peach, j’adore!
So for now I’m going to stick with my dear Peach Sake Pore Serum which gives me my daily peach fix.
BUT, I will try this product again when I’m done testing the other newbies in my routine, hopefully I’ve been sorely mistaken when it comes to this product, and we can be lifelong friends and have long rides on the beach on our unicorns and picnics in the park until sundown. I highly friggin doubt it, but hey, optimism!

So that’s all I have on this juicy bump creating bastard, have you tried it?
Let me know!

Rant of the week; Cloud 9 Blanc De Brightening Cream

Hello darlings!

It’s that time of the week again, and I’m back with a product that didn’t send me to cloud 9, or any other nice cloud except for the clouds in my eyes when they were filled with tears and the feeling of betrayal.

FullSizeRender_4

Well, maybe it wasn’t that extreme, but it stung a bit to know that this floof of a miracle didn’t go well with my skin, at all. We were supposed to fly in the sky together, while looking awesome and whitened!

I have written a first impression on this earlier, click here to check it out!

So let’s get down and cloudy with the details on this one!

FullSizeRender_6

Name: Cloud9 Blanc De Whitening Cream
Product: Whitening Cream
Good For: Moisture, Brightening
Product description: This magical cream brightens skin ASAP, and the naturally brightened effect lasts up to 12 hours. With continuous usage, it also lightens dark spots, reduces redness, and diminishes freckles. The best part is, this miracle is performed by organic herbal ingredients that also restore and rejuvenate skin all day.
Price: 11-18$ (Ebay, RoseRoseShop, Bbcosmetic)
Cosdna

As you can see from the CosDna there really isn’t anything that suggest that my skin shouldn’t get along with it, but then again, my skin has a tendency to be one sneaky motherfucker, and never play by the rules.

Texture and smell:
“It actually looks like they’ve slaughtered an innocent cloud, grabbed the essence, mixed it with some cottage cheese and stuffed it in a tub. I mean look at that! If that doesn’t scream cream gone bad, then I don’t know what does. But it smells good tho! And the spatula is still cute.” It spreads evenly and smells nice, when you first apply it you will fear that your face is gonna stay that white, but when it gets to do it’s job and soak in, it will only leave a whitening effect, not the whole I just happened to plant my face in a bucket of egg shell coloured paint.

So here’s how the testing period went!
We got along just fine the first couple of times I tried it, but I made sure to only use it daytime, because that usually is the most effective way for me to see if it breaks me out or makes me purge. It wasn’t until I tried it in my evening routine that shit hit the fan!
I ended up getting this nasty milia looking thing right under my cheekbone, but it was angry and red (it’s still there if anyone’s wondering.) And I quickly understood that the floof was the sinner in my routine, considering that my skin fix products were the only thing in my routine at the moment (and they are all tested and trusted.)

But of course, being a little too naive and hopeful I tried it for a couple of days after this, but still got the same result, it whitened, but made angry spots appear in places I usually don’t break out, so with a heavy heart I had to let it go.

So overall it annoys me, I really enjoy the effects that it gives, but I don’t want to look like a pizza face with an even skin tone but pepperoni dots all over the place!

That’s all I had about this product, not really an angry rant, but you know, how mean can one be with something that smells nice and you reeaaally want to love, because it’s made of clouds and dreams?

I probably won’t try it out again, or so she says, and hits the cloud tub once again just to make sure. But if you’ve had positive results with this product I would love to hear about it!

Full review: Earth’s Recipe Moisture Bound Cream

Hey guys!

As promised I’m back with a proper review of the Earth’s Recipe Moisture Bound Cream. I mentioned in the first impression that the full review would we posted after 1-2 weeks of use, but I figured out that this product deserved a little longer. So here we are, 3 weeks and 3 days later. Sorry for the delay. But at least you get a proper review, right?

20170422_182514

The basics   ↓
Product type: Cream
Purpose: Hydrating and moisturizing
Step in skin care routine: Last step at night unless you apply a sleeping mask aswell. Last step during the day unless you apply a sun screen (which is highly recommended).

More details   ↓
Colour: Slightly off-white
Scent: Lemongrass and lavender?
Consistency: Semi-thick and silky.
Appearance on the skin: After 5 minutes of absorbation it has a semi-satin finish. However, I always let the last skin care product I apply, absorb into the skin for at least an hour before applying my make up.
Feeling on the skin: Nice and smooth. It feels quite luxurious. Definetely more moisturizing than a gel, a bit greasy.
Container: On the smaller side, made of plastic and not so travel friendly after all (I’ll explain why in a minute.)
Packaging: Beautiful. Love the design and colours. It also comes with a spatula.

So what do I think of the Earth’s Recipe Moisture Bound Cream?
Having used this cream for a little over 3 weeks I can confidently say that I’m rather impressed with it. I’ve enjoyed using it both during the day and as a night cream, and I can honestly tell you that it lived up to my expectations. When I bought the Moisture Bound Cream I had been searching high and low for a “white” cream on the heavier side, that would serve as a good moisturizing cream for night time use, without breaking me out. I looked it up at CosDna (like I always do) and found that it would be less likely to irritate the hell out of my skin, compared to sooo many others. How could I say “no” to that? And furthermore, when I read about the product I found out that it contains Tremella Mushroom, a mushroom ingredient that can hold 500 times it’s own weight in water. YES PLEASE.

Allthough I do like this cream a lot, there are a few cons   ↓
– I really appreciate a nice scent. And to me the Moisture Bound Cream’s lavender/lemongrass scent is just… okay. I don’t love it. And I’m not really sure if I even like it that much? Yeah, sure, it somewhat disappears after a while, but for me this product would score a little higher if it had a nicer scent.

– In the first review I said that due to the container’s relatively small size, that it’s travel friendly. *Cough* Well… I took it with me on my trip around Easter, in a car, NOT A PLANE, NOT A UFO. Just a car. And the lid broke. Let’s just say that I’ve had more solid eggs in my bag, than this mofo.

– I’ve had a lot of products that have lasted a LONG time. This one won’t. I can already tell. I’m 3 weeks into the jar and it’s half empty. Also, I’ve noticed that when I’m applying it, I have to use quite a lot of product to get it all over my face. It doesn’t glide on as nicely or easily as other creams I’ve tried.

– And lastly, I still think I can do even better, when it comes to finding that one absolute Holy Grail moizurizing cream.

And remember; I always recommend taking a closer look at any new product before purchasing it, just in case you’re allergic or sensitve to one or more of the ingredients. Personally I always check before buying a new product, because I know my skin is of the extra vulnerable type as I do have dehydrated combination skin with acne prone areas. You can find the ingredients, what they are and what they do at CosDna    🙂

20170422_182720

This isn’t necisarily the end of my relationship with the Moisture Bound Cream, but we’re going to take a little (or longer) break, as I promised to give an updated review on another product a couple of weeks ago, which naturally means that I have to start using it again. Can you guess which product I’m talking about? All I can say at the moment is that I’m sooo looking forward to being reunited with this baby in particular  😀
