Double Trouble; A review of both the Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Serum and the Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop!

Yay, a double review!

Hello Darlings, long time no see right?
I know, and since I’m almost sorry, I’ll make it up to you with a double review! I’m a little bit sorry, but you know, summer happened, and the sun, being an utter rarity here in Norway, made me a bit ditsy and forgetful one might say.

Anyway!  Let’s get down and squeaky clean with the info on these lovely supple treats!

So basically I’m going to make it simple today. The reason you’re all getting the pleasure of a double review is because I use these two as a power couple. I find the Vitamin drops to be a bit too heavy on the oily side when used alone, but together they really do the trick!
So let’s just get down to it!

Packaging:
Both these products come in nice subtle containers, leaving the focus to be on what’s actually inside the them, which is what it should be like!
Both bottles are plastic fantastic, so they’re actually very travel friendly, trust me, I’ve tested it out a couple of times this summer, serum bottle road trip! Or not.
The Vitamin drops comes with, yes omg, you guessed it, a dropper! Making it easy to plop out the exact amount you need!
The Soothing Serum has a nifty little pump, where a squeeze and a half should do the trick, plus points for easy peasy packaging.

Texture & Smell:
img_1255.jpg
Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Serum: This is just divine, the scent is a faint citrusy kind that just cuddles your nose and reminds you of summer, for me at least, it’s like a half runny gel, and spreads on evenly and effortlessly, which is nice when you’re a big fan of effortless delicious moisture.
img_1256.jpg
Again, super easy to spread, and it doesn’t take a whole eternity before it sinks into your face.
img_1257
Look at this! Delicious, and of course, even better when applied on a face, screaming for moisture and plumpness!

So! Let’s move on to some vitamin infused oiliness!

img_1258.jpg
Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop: It doesn’t really smell that much, it has a hint of clean, if that makes sense? But hey, as long as it doesn’t give off a scent wanting you to dispose of your afternoon snack, I’m all on board!
img_1259.jpg
This one is a bit runny, so I’d recommend applying it either fast by dripping it directly on your face while staring at the roof and rub it around like a super speedy goddess, or just mix it in with a serum of your liking, makes for a much easier application!
It takes a bit to sink in, and dries a bit oily, which I really don’t like.
img_1262.jpg
I have a theory that when winter time comes around it will be a bit more manageable, but believe me, at this time of year I don’t sweat. I oil. Literally. And who on this rainbow blessed, unicorn loving earth would want to be extra oily? Not moi.

But then again, since it’s not the last step of a routine, you’ll easily cover up the feeling of being a walking oil-diva.

Application:
Cleanse, tone, serum-time! If you’re unsure where to put this in your routine, follow the thinnest to thickest in consistency rule!
img_1254
As mentioned earlier, these two mix very well, at least in my opinion, and when you find a way that works for you, stick to it!
I first tried them separately, and that just made me love the serum, and hate the vitamin drop, so obviously I had to give them both a go together!
The Soothing Serum has really helped for the problem I initially purchased it for, that being irritated and sensitive skin, and of course, some good old fashioned super moisture!

My thoughts on these products?

So if you’ve read this far, and really don’t know what I feel about the product, I can reassure you and say that I’m about to start my third bottle. That’s commitment to a product right there.
When the whole moisture barrier case was starting to improve I introduced the vitamin drop to the routine, it didn’t last more than a week on it’s own, because I couldn’t quite get over the oil madness going on.
But! A K-beauty adventurer never gives up, and I tried mixing it in with other products, first the moisturizer I was using, boy was that nasty. And finally, the Soothing Serum, they were like a match made in heaven, I mean, who wouldn’t want a super duo hydrating and maintaining your face?

So ever since, they’ve been unseperable and they’re still in my daily nighttime routine, the soothing serum gets to be in my morning routine as well, but I personally prefer to only do Vit C when the sun has set, and there’s no danger of getting skin damage caused by the sun and Vitamin C, I’ve heard they don’t get along too well.

Hopefully this will have given you some insight to these products, so I’ll just move along to my favourite part of these posts. Yes darlings, you guessed it, it’s rating time!

A bunch of first impressions, part two

Hey everyone!

So the previous post revolved around three products and my thoughts on them so far. And now I think it’s time to talk about the other half, as promised. You guessed it! This is part two (“also known as the other half”)!

Let’s get started!

First up is the Starting Treatment Essence (Rose Edition) from Secret Key   ↓

When I first tried this product I wasn’t really sure what to expect, because I’ve never owned a starting treatment essence before! Naturally I was a little unsure about how to use it “correctly”, or at least the best way. So I did some research and found out that it’s completely fine to use products with the words “starting” or “first” in their names, as toners. However, that’s not how I decided to do things! As you already may know, there are different ways when it comes to applying toners and such. For example, there’s the 3-skin method and the 7-skin method. And because I already had the Grean Tea Fresh Toner from Isntree on hand, which I also am testing, I thought it would be a good idea to layer the Starting Treatment Essence on top of it, twice.  Because, why not, right? After all, three good layers are better than one! #3-skin-method

20180602_173215

So, back to my initial thoughts on the Starting Treatment Essence, and how it’s been going since then! At first I found this product slightly impractical because it’s very runny. In other words; applying it to my face was a rather awkward process. Using a cotton pad would definetely be a lot easier, but it would also waste a lot of product, so I decided to stick to using my hands. And once I got the hang of it, I really didn’t see a problem. In fact, I really like the Starting Treatment Essence! It feels sooo luxurious when you spread it on the face and pat it in. It also feels a bit hydrating and cooling, and VERY refreshing! This product leaves my skin feeling soft, supple and just nice all around. Oh, and don’t get me started on the galactomyces in this thing! I can tell that it’s evening out my skin tone and makes it look more healthy and vibrant!

Moving on to the Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop from Klairs   ↓

I decided to give this product a go when I was looking for a new serum to try and just couldn’t seem to find the perfect one. Don’t get me wrong, I knew this serum wouldn’t cater to all of my needs either, however, a few things about it intrigued me. Firstly, the product itself is a beautiful shade of blue! And who wouldn’t want to try a blue serum, am I right?! And secondly, this serum is geared towards anti-aging. Although I have zero wrinkles and almost no fine lines, I am still turning 25 this year. And that is commonly considered the age when you should start taking some preventive measures. So I thought I’d start off with the Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop! I may not need anti-aging skin care products yet, but seriously, I’m all about prevention. And discovering – and getting to know the different options out there, is never a bad idea!

20180530_011140

Anyway, let’s rewind back to the first time I tried the Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop! Just like the Starting Treatment Essence from Secret Key, I was a little (quite!) frustrated to find out how thin and runny this product is. It really wasn’t – and still isn’t easy to apply it to my face without spilling or dripping. When you’re using the dropper applicator to drip this serum on your face, you better move fast! Because this stuff will race down your jaw, chin or wherever it’s going and continue going South unless you catch it! And because of this, and the fact that the product comes in a rather small bottle with a dropper, it reminds me more of an ampoule than a serum. Also, I feel like I have to use more than a drop here and there to cover my face sufficiantly. However, if you set the inconveniance of the application and the ammount of product aside, I do like the product itself. But not as a stand alone serum, only as a layer under something thicker. If you’re looking for a serum with anti-aging properties, and that’s the only concern you have, you might enjoy this product! But for me, a person with other issues aswell, for example dehydration, the Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop just isn’t enough in itself.

And last but not least we’re talking about the Kale-Lalu-yAHA from Krave   ↓

This is actually my very first exfoliating treatment, so I wasn’t really sure what to expect from it! Of course I’ve exfoliated my face many times before, but that was using either a peeling gel or a more abrasive physical scrub. The Kale-Lalu-yAHA being a chemical exfoliator, is different to the others I mentioned. A chemical exfoliator will often contain ingredients that enables it to multitask. So instead of just breaking down – and removing the dead skin on your face, they can also help reduce wrinkles, brighten, help fade that stubborn hyperpigmentation and so on!

20180530_011001

When I first tried the Kale-Lalu-yAHA the first thing I noticed was the scent, which reminded me of puke. But don’t worry! I don’t mean like full-on-real-talk-shit-puke, but a watered down version, maybe like 5 % puke? ANYWAY, enough about puke, because the scent does go away after a little while, and I only really noticed it the first couple of times I used it.

Now, let’s add a few more details! I usually don’t get a whole lot of breakouts anymore, but at the time of my first meeting with the Kale-Lalu-yAHA, I had quite a few on my forhead, and they had stayed put for about two weeks. When my skin actually breaks out, it’s very seldom in that specific area. I usually get them on my chin and/or around my jaws and cheeks. So this forhead situation was very unusual for me, to say the least!

Okay, it’s time to get to the point! So I just about soaked a cotton pad in Kale-Lalu-yAHA and swiped it across my face a couple of times, and it tingled a bit. It wasn’t painful or anything, but there definetely was a mild tingling sensation! After that, I completed my skin care night time routine and went to bed (lol, like 4 hours later)! When I woke up next morning I noticed that my forhead looked quite a bit better than the night before, and my skin in general felt indeed clean, soft and exfoliated! Just in case this was a coincidence, I kept a close eye on the affected area every day and night for a while. And I was amazed to notice that every time I woke up after a hot and heavy night with the Kale-Lalu-yAHA, my face had cleared up even more than the last time! I would take one look at my forhead and find that the zits had literally shrunk. In other words; so far, so damn good! I am really impressed with this product’s skin clearing abilities and the nice exfoliation it provides! Result!

20180519_181601

There you have it; part two of “A bunch of first impressions”. But fear not! There are a lot more skin care products waiting in line, so you can expect a part three and four, at least. That’s it for tonight! As usual, I hope you enjoyed this post. Hopefully it was a bit interesting and somewhat educational. Have a great day or night wherever you are in the world, and stay tuned for more first impressions etc!

Disclaimer:
“Remember that we all have different skin types and concerns, and that you might react differently to these products compared to what I did. Maybe your experience will be better than mine, maybe it will be worse. It’s all about finding the skin care products best suited to your skin type, concerns and issues. Reading reviews can also be very helpful when you’re deciding which products to buy. And finally, it’s always a good idea to look up a product at CosDna before purchasing. Sometimes a product turns out to be a little (or very) different to what you expected, and there’s little you can do about it after you’ve opened it. But you CAN check which ingredients are in the product, what they are, what they do, and if they’re listed as an irritant or acne trigger. Good luck!”

Review: Klairs Supple Facial Preparation Facial Toner

Hello everyone!

The time has now come for me to share my final thoughts on the Supple Preparation Facial Toner from Klairs. I can honestly say that this toner has been thoroughly tested for more than three weeks, which is usually enough time for me to find out if a skin care product is doing what it claims, or pure kicking my ass!

So let’s get to it   ↓

So what do I like about the Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner?

As I mentioned earlier; I’ve now been using the Supple Preparation Facial Toner from Klairs for over three weeks, and it’s been a true pleasure since day one. I can hand on heart say that I love this toner. It hasn’t caused any breakouts and I feel that it’s doing a great job of it’s main tasks, which are adjusting the skin’s pH level and hydrating – and moisturizing the skin. It feels amazing as soon as it’s applied, as it provides a cooling and soothing effect, and you’re left with a clean and healthy looking face with a satin finish (which is exactly what you want you want when you’re moving on to the next skin care product in your routine!)
This product does have a very clean and rather medicinal scent, but it’s very mild. In other words; if you’re very sensitive to scents, I doubt that you’ll have a problem with this toner, as the scent isn’t overbaring at all. However, I for one, wouldn’t mind a slightly more yummy scent, but I’m not going to complain since the scent of this product is pleasant enough and I do like it. (It’s just not going to blow the head off Vicky’s Scent Scale, but that’s okay, we can accept that!)

20170523_223435

And what are the cons?
I have to say that the cons aren’t that many, but there are some.
For instance the consistency could have been a teeny bit better. Don’t get me wrong; I love that it’s thick for a toner and therefore very nourishing, hydrating and moisturizing but it’s not quite as easy to spread out compared to other toners that I’ve tried. It’s not difficult or anything, I just notice a slight difference. Keep in mind that I’ve only tried applying the product with a cotton pad, so for all I know it might be easier applying it with my finger tips. I just haven’t tried this method when it comes to this product yet, as I prefer using cotton pads for this step in my routine.
Also there is the container. Although it’s a good container, it looks nice, it’s safe and secure etc, the dispenser isn’t the best. When you take the top off you’ll discover that the dispenser is flat and that the only way to get the product out is to hold the bottle upside down and shake (not like ferociously shaking it but you get my point). So when you’re done with that and return the bottle into an upright position, you’re sometimes left with a bit of a mess, which I’ll be honest in the beginning was getting on my tits a bit, but now I’m pretty much used to it and it’s not that bad. Just a thought, though.

Conclusion?
When it comes to Korean Toners I have tried/used the Skinfood Premium Tomato Whitening Toner, the COSRX AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner and the Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner, before now trying – and using the Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner. I can’t really remember my time with the Skinfood toner or the COSRX toner. All I know it that they didn’t impress me and were ultimatly replaced by the Wonder Pore freshner from Etude house, which is the toner that I’ve used the longest. And because of that I decided that if I was going to compare the Klairs toner with another one, it would have to be the Wonder Pore Freshner.

And I must say that in this case Klairs really gave Etude House a run for their money! I know that the Wonder Pore Freshner is a Holy Grail product for many, but for me it was just “allright”. It didn’t break me out but it didn’t impress me either. Needless to say, now that I’ve experienced the full force of the Supple Preparation Facial Toner from Klairs, I won’t be going back to the Wonder Pore Freshner anytime soon! This will definetely be a repurchase.

And remember; I always recommend taking a closer look at any new product before purchasing it, just in case you’re allergic or sensitve to one or more of the ingredients. Personally I always check before buying a new product, because I know my skin is of the extra vulnerable type as I do have dehydrated combination skin with acne prone areas. You can find the ingredients, what they are and what they do at CosDna.

So that’s it for my review on the Supple Preparation Facial Toner from Klairs! Hope you enjoyed it and found it helpful. Please let me know what your experience with this product is, if you’ve tried it!

Today’s arrivals!

Hey guys!

So today I found a load of products waiting for me in my letter box! Oh, happy day! I ordered all of them around the same date so it’s not a suprise that so many came at the same time, but it still feels amazing to get my hands on them all, MUHAHAHA! (And that sounds a bit creepy). *Cough* ANYWAY, everyday there’s a package (or nine) in my letter box is a good day! Like I’ve said before; it feels like Christmas every single time! Now, I bet you’re all jumping out of your chairs, eager to find out what I recieved today, so let’s start off with the make up   ↓

20170518_200933

Here we have the Holika Holika Heartful Chiffon Cream Lipstick in the colour Almond Choux, the Peripera Rouge Pang Lipstick #PP08, the Play 101 Stick (Contour Duo) and the Etude House Dr. Mascara Fixer Super Longlash eyelash primer.

Can’t wait to try them all tomorrow. Well, at least three out of four, as I don’t have two sets of lips (well…)!

ANYWAY, moving on to the skin care products   ↓

20170518_200829

And here we have the Banila Co. Clean It Zero Purity Cleansing Balm, the Innisfree Jeju Lava Seawater Boosting Ampoule and the Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner.

I’ve already tried the toner and the ampoule tonight, and tomorrow I’ll also try the cleansing balm! So excited! Fingers crossed.

Here all of the products that arrived today are pictured together just like a little k-beauty family   ↓

20170518_200902
Ah, the beauty.

And of course the empty boxes, lols   ↓

20170518_200951
Look at all those empty shells!

Stay tuned for more products as they keep coming in! In other words; I’m still waiting for a few other newbies, and if I wasn’t, I would order MORE. Heh. Anyway, I’m very excited to recieve them, especially one of them. Can you guess which product I’m talking about?

And I will of course come back with first impressions – and later on full reviews on all of the products mentioned in this post, as I do with every product I purchase!

Vicky ❤

It’s time for another mini haul!

Hey guys!

I really thought that at least one of my packages would arrive today, but NO! None of them came, not even one… In other words; my plans to do an unboxing post today failed miserably! I expect that shit to be in my letter box tomorrow. OR ELSE?!

So, what’s the next best thing? A mini haul post, of course! And no, I didn’t shop just because I didn’t get my stuff today. I actually needed some of these products (and wanted some, HEHEHE). This time I purchased four makeup products and four skin care products.

So let’s get to it   ↓

The Holika Holika Heartful Chiffon Cream Lipstick #BE01 Almond Choux:
This will be my very first product from Holika Holika, yay! I’ve wanted to try Holika Holika products for some time now, but I never decided on what. I suppose that’s because nothing of theirs (so far) jumped at me UNTIL I saw this lipstick. Have you seen how cute it is?! It’s shaped like a heart! ❤  Sold.

holika
The Peripera Rouge Pang Lipstick #PP08:

Another make up product that practically jumped at me. I love the colour, it’s cheap and I’ve heard that this one’s a goodie. Can’t wait to try it!
lip

The Etude House Dr. Mascara Fixer Long-Lash:
This product is something I’ve never tried before; an eyelash primer! My current favourite mascara is from Etude House, so I thought “What the heck? Let’s try it!” and that was that. Bought on a whim.

dr

The Etude House Play 101 Stick:
This is another Etude House product that I bought on a whim. Didn’t really do much research but I’ve heard that it’s one of the better cream contour/highlighters out there in the K-beauty world. And I’ve always wanted to try contouring with cream products as opposed to powders, yay!

etude_mt_225_02_light
The Beauty of Joseon Dynasty Cream:
Another product completely bought on a whim. Mocka had heard romours about this cream being a “hidden gem” and brought it to my attention, like only a true friend would. Of course this made me rather curious, and after reading a single review on it (normally I read at least 5) the “Proceed to checkout” button was pressed! Oops. Sorry not sorry.
dyn

The Banila Co. Clean It Zero Purity:
This is a product I’ve known about for a long time but never gotten around to. So when my second bottle of cleansing oil is now running low, this was a strong candidate for replacement!

kboil
The Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner:
Up until about two weeks ago my main focus has been on finding the perfect moisturizing cream. However, recently I’ve started thinking that I need to be using more hydrating products aswell. What’s the point in moisturizing your face to keep the hydration from coming out, if there’s hardly any hydration to begin with?! And trust me, you guys; I can feel the hydration NOT being in my face. So this toner will be my first proper hydrating product to start off my big, hydrated journey!

s-l500
The Innisfree Jeju Lava Seawater Boosting Ampoule:

This is a product I’ve never heard of – or seen before, but it’s beautiful blue colour caught my attention. Also, it helped that I’ve used up a whole bottle of the Jeju Lava Seawater Deep Essence, which is also from Innisfree and obviously from the same line. Point is, I really enjoyed the deep essence but I wanted to try something slightly different. And here we are!
inn

So there you have it; the products I’m waiting for next! I’m so excited to try them all, as they’re all new to me. Have you tried any of these? If so, what’s your experience with them?

First impression: Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop Serum

Hey guys!

I’m back with yet another first impression. This time I’m talking about the Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop Serum from Klairs, which is indeed a vitamin C product! This is my first ever Klairs product and I’ve been very excited to try it. As usual with any product I purchase, I’ve heard great things about this one aswell. Shock! I very seldom buy products on a whim (but it has happened). This serum has been stored in my fridge for a little while now and tonight I thought it was high time I gave it a sniff!

20170502_035308

So I’ve only tried the Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop Serum once and I’m not sure what I think of it. Of course most skin care products take some time to show their true colours, but in my opinion some more than others, and I think this product will be one of them. Sure, I might notice a small, immediate difference or two, but I suspect that a potential bigger change will take more than a couple of weeks to show up (of course, this is only a theory). This product promises to do a lot of different things, so we’ve got several different prosesses going on here.
I know from experience that many products provide a “quick fix” when it comes to temporary whitening/brightening, but reducing fine lines and wrinkles can take some time (and I haven’t really got any wrinkles). Also, finding out if this serum protects my skin (as it also claims) in any way, might take some time aswell. Other than that I can report that it stung a teeny bit upon application, but nothing really worth mentioning. I’ve heard that this is normal when introducing vitamin C to your skin care regimen, and that it will subside   🙂

20170502_035113

I’d also like to mention that I was a lot more concerned about whitening when I purchased the Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop Serum. Now I don’t feel like I need that effect as much, but as I said; this serum claims to do quite a few other things, so I will be putting it to the test anyway. Hopefully i can benefit from at least some “protection” (which I assume to be enviromental protection) and prevention. I’ve heard great things about vitamin C and it’s supposed to be good for the skin in general, so I’m still looking forward to giving this serum a fair chance, although I think it might be better suited for people with the “right” skin concerns   🙂

As with any product I try, I’ll be back with a full review after putting this serum to the test for a couple of weeks. So stay tuned!
