The Ordinary; A double review, Part two!

Hello Darlings!

I’m back at it again, as promised, with part two of this awesome but still very ordinary review adventure!

Today I’ll be taking on the only oil I’ve ever managed to love in my entire life, we’re talking Rose Hip Oil dudes & dudettes!

Let’s just jump right into it, or slide, you know, seeing as it is indeed an oil we’re talking about.

Name: The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil
Product: Daily Support Formula, basically an oil based miracle.
Good For: Maintaining the moisture barrier, anti-aging, get that oily skin under control.
Description:This formulation uses 100% pure Rosehip Seed Oil that is both cold-pressed and organic. Rosehip Seed Oil is rich in linoleic acid, linolenic acid and pro-vitamin A, all of which degrade when the oil extraction process involves heat. While cold-pressed extraction is complex, it preserves all of the quality of this important oil which has been shown to reduce signs of photo-ageing and many other skin conditions.
Price:  11 $ (theordinary)

This one I stumbled upon on Instagram, I had already read several posts about it on reddit, but didn’t really give it much thought, until it popped up in our feed, where the review was awesome, and I thought, what the hey!
Turns out that this shit is the bomb.com, and now I’m trying to imagine how my skin days were before this glorious little gem entered my skincare routine!

Packaging:
This, as the other product I talked about yesterday came in a simple white box, which again, it’s ordinary, in the double sense of the word.
On a sidenote, yes, I have ended up putting this oil under my eyes, and the caffeine solution on my entire face, you know those days when you just wanna crawl into bed, sorry, not sorry.

Texture & Smell:
This really doesn’t do anything for me sniff-wise, neither good or bad, which, well, it’s natural, the scent isn’t some overbearing floral explosion, but it doesn’t smell like flat out greasy dirt, it smells.. very little to none, with a whiff of organic, if that’s even a way to describe a scent.
Consistency wise I hate this product, but when that’s the only negative thing I have to say about it, I’ll let it slide, it’s soooo runny, you have to do your best ninja moves so you don’t accidentally end up with an oily sink, or the rubbery floor from hell. Or maybe that’s just me being me.
At first I was like, aw hell no, you gonna be greasy, AND runny? Ain’t nobody got time for that! But when I started seeing positive changes in my skin, I really just learned to live with it. Also, it’s yellow, so when you pick up the dropper, ready to pounce, don’t fear the color, when applying it for the first time I was sure that my days as a pale white breakout-prone faced wannabe cat was over, and that I would forever be known as the oily yellow-tinted cherub cheek girl, well, those fears were so far from the truth, that we really don’t have to mention it ever again.

Application:
When applying you have to choices, you can be a bold mofo and throw it right on your face, but do make sure that it goes on after all water based products, just trust me on this one you guys. Or you can blend it with a product you already have, a moisturizer is a good place to start, that way it’s easier to apply, and you don’t have to jump right into the oil pool if you’re not ready for it.
Also, this goes on at nighttime, let that flowery hip work it’s skincare dance overnight. ( I swear you guys, sometimes I’m just too funny.)
At first you will feel oily, not gonna lie, but it wouldn’t live up to it’s name if it left you with a matte finish after a couple of minutes. It soaks in quite slowly, therefore it’s easier to apply combined with the last step of your routine, the moisturizer, or even a sleeping pack if you’re using that.

Feels as greasy at it looks.

But then again, this product is packed with linoleic acid, which is known to be a more beneficial  moisturizer for combination/oily skin, seeing as those skin types have a higher concentration of oleic acids (typically found in the more traditional oils like coconut and olive), so you’ll get a better moisture barrier when supplementing with what you have less of. Genius right?
Basically, it’s the good guy oil, there to help your skin to a healthier and happier life!
Or so I think, I might be terribly mistaken. I sometimes am, no shame.

So what’s my thoughts on this product?
I never thought I would see the day where I praised an oil, or an oil product to be specific. It has helped me heaps, and I’m sure I’ll get even better results in the long haul.
My face doesn’t feel as tight as it would those days I didn’t apply a heavy layer of sleeping masks, and I have this awesome glow going come morning.
It has even helped me battle those stubborn whiteheads I’ve had since my teen years, but I’m not going to give all the credit to this oil, I have also stopped wearing heavy foundations, the oil just boosts the effect, one might say.

I will keep you posted when I’ve used it for a couple of months, so far I love it, and I hope you will too!

Rave of the week: The Ordinary

Hello darlings!

As you can probably tell by this post’s headline this is a rave! On a Monday? Outrageous!
Seeing as I haven’t got any real hate going on in the product department I decided to actually put out some good vibes for a change.
And let me tell you guys, these things smell of good vibes and happy skin!

This post is not sponsored in any shape or form, these are all my honest opinions.

After getting a hot tip from a lovely Instagrammer I decided to hop on the hype train!
I’ve been using two of their products for 1 1/2 weeks, and I can already see a difference!

So first, I want to talk about the product that eradicated the millia I had from previous bastards. I’m talking caffeine deliciousness in the form of a bottle & dropper
rdn-caffeine-solution-5pct-egcg-30ml

Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG
(pictures borrowed from The Ordinary’s website)

This is pure genius.
So far this product has de-puffed my bags and it seems that the purple/blue hue that I tend to have after long nights of hauling and sniffing snails are slowly starting to run for the hills, or back to the store they came from. Mygod, my sense of humor is amazing. (Shopping)bags under my eyes, get it? Hah! I know it’s bad when I feel like I need to explain it.
It is apparently a known effect that when one mixes caffeine and Epigallocatechin Gallatyl Glucoside (EGCG) from green tea leaves, you get de-puffed, at least according to Deciem’s website. So basically, I could’ve mixed coffee and green tea and mashed it together and applied the goo to my face?
Yeah, probably not, that would’ve been way to easy, I think I’ll just stick to this serum instead.
I’ve actually considered patch testing this on other parts of my face, just to see how it reacts, if I end up doing it, I will let you guys know how it went!

Moving on to the darling close to my heart;
rdn-100pct-organic-cold-pressed-rose-hip-seed-oil-30ml
The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil

Where do I begin with this beauty?
I had basically lost all hope that my closed comedones where ever going to get the hell off my face. The last couple of months I’ve been testing and buying everything I thought was going to help me, but always ended up breaking out or getting even more CC’s. I really thought that I had to accept the fact that I was forever going to be known as Miss Bumpyface.
And let me tell you, that on it’s own is actually pretty sad. I’ve had troubled skin since pre-teen years, and tried endless varieties of skin care products. Most of them just made my skin angry, super oily, and super bumpy. Western skincare is well and all that, but you basically pay a lot of money for products designed to dry your skin out, in hope of luring the sebum and puss out, and we all know that isn’t really how it works.
So when I finally got into Korean skincare there was yet again hope for me and my bumps, or humps, all depending on the size of those bastards.
So I started purchasing everything whitehead related, but the products didn’t really seem to DO anything, they just made my skin feel soft, but didn’t really take care of the problem.
So when I purchased the rose hip oil I was super skeptical, but thought, what the hey!
And let me tell you guys, it is the bomb dot com!
This oil has really helped my skin in the short time I’ve used it, and I’m just super excited about it!
I know it’s a tad far out to call it a Korean skincare product considering it’s from a Canada based company, but seeing as rose hip oil itself is popular in AB skincare, I’ll just go with it!
I’ve gone from having CC’s all the way from my cheekbones to my chin, to just having this contour line that is slowly fading as well, *happydance*
I can’t give full credit to the oil itself, but with the assistance of my Cosrx Galactomyces essence they do one hell of a job!

So far so good, darlings!

I will keep you posted, and there will be a full review up on these good guys when I’ve tested them thoroughly.
