Review; Naruko Taiwan Magnolia Brightening and Firming Toner EX

Hello darlings!

I’m back with this little Taiwanese magnolia wonder that I’ve had the pleasure of trying out for the last couple of weeks, and I’m now ready to talk about it!

I actually bought this on a whim, or almost, I read about Naruko on reddit and figured it would be a great idea to purchase it, right away, no researching what so ever, just imagine being a little tipsy, money in the bank and having Ebay bookmarked, we all know what happens. You’ll probably notice that this won’t be my first review on an item purchased while being vino happy.

Holy balls! I just love this product, and yes, today’s pictures includes Percival, the very photogenic feline that loves a good skincare product just as much as I do.

Packaging:
This comes in a simple bottle, no fuzz really, but it’s simple, and does the job of actually containing the product. Not really a fan of the plastic to be honest, it’s a little cheap looking, but sturdy, so great for transportation!
Also, dispensing this product is a bit annoying, in the morning anyways, you have to flip it upside down and shake it like a polaroid picture, or just.. like the bottle it is. This annoys me because I never know how much product is gonna squish out of it, but then again, who doesn’t love a good surprise?

img_8931

Texture&Smell:
This just smells so great! I adore the scent on this one, it’s very flowery and might be a little overbaring for some, but the flowery scent isn’t too synthetic, so you actually feel like you’re buttering up your face with a real flower. The scent lingers for a while, but seeing as this isn’t the final step of the routine you won’t really notice the scent after the layers you follow up with.
Texture wise this is a little more essence, less toner, well, hydrating toner to be exact, so it’s not super runny, but you can’t run to the kitchen to fetch your coffee while having this product in your palm, it’ll get messy and you’ll waste flower toner, just trust me on this one, guys.

img_8930

Application:
Cleanse, then toner. This is one of those essence toners, if you were wondering. This also happens to be my first experience with a hydrating toner, and so far I’m not disappointed!

Dudes, do you see the awkward hand? I had to be effective, because it’s summer and mosquitoes are coming.
So first one cleanses, then applies the toner, this takes a little while to sink in, but it’s so worth it, it’ll leave your skin feeling plump and ready for more skin goodness!
This product also happens to be one of those a little goes a long way things, so even tho it costs more than my usual toner, this will be cheaper in the long run, and I am after all a sucker for good buys!
I also used this product to test out the “7 skin method”, for those of you who don’t know what that is, google is your friend.
Okay, I’ll tell you anyways, the 7 skin method is basically patting on 7 layers of toner in succession, this is supposed to increase the moisture level of the skin in an effective way without the heavy and greasiness of all sorts of creams. It’s supposed to work for all skin types and will leave your skin hydrated and dewy, winning!
Anyway, I’ve tried it twice with this one, and it’s just friggin awesome! I’ve never felt so hydrated before, it’s like a new dimension of hydration heaven opened up, so I urge you guys to try it! It doesn’t have to be this toner, any hydrating toner will do!

Percival gives zero fu*ks.

So what do I think of the product?
So far this is one of the best products I’ve bought on a whim, not that I have gone bananas with impulse shopping, but the list is getting longer every week, sorry, not sorry.
This might even qualify as one of those, how do you say, Le Holy Grail? Read it with a bad french accent, it’s funnier that way.
This has for me done wonders, not in the whole problem care department, but I’ve never been this hydrated before, there’s no tight feeling what so ever, and my skin looks plump for once, in the good way, not the Aw, shit, did I eat the whole cake again? way.
For now there’s only good things to say about this product, but I think for some the smell might be too much in the long run, if you’re like me, smelling the same thing every night and every morning will get tiring, and you’ll hit that wall where the scent repulses you, or maybe that’s just me?
Let’s just love the product for as long as it lasts.

Your Mileage May Vary, and we’re all different, you should always check the ingredient list and read about a product before purchasing it, but hey, no pressure!

That’s what I have on this flower for now, hopefully the love lasts, and this never makes it to the rant of the week list, but who knows?
My skin always has plans of it’s own.

The Ordinary; A double review, part one!

Hello darlings!

As promised last week, and delivered a little bit late, here are finally the reviews on the products I raved about last week, and thought about all weekend!
Today I will be presenting one of the two, and tomorrow the second gem will make an appearance on the blog!
Since these products technically aren’t AB, but many of you guys out there use them, I thought I might get away with talking about them, seeing as they’re doing what we all want our skincare products to do; helping us on our way to healthy skin.

So let’s get on with it, you guys!

So, this didn’t really stand out to me at first. I’d already tried out some eye creams that did nothing, so I kinda just assumed that a serum would work just as bad, meaning it wouldn’t do sh*t. But hey! Always nice to get smacked in the eyeballs with a pleasant surprise!
I should’ve known that this would be a gem, based on the ingredient list alone, but again, we are talking about an eye serum and my track record with eye anything haven’t exactly been the most epic fairytale one could imagine.
With that being said, let’s talk facts.
img_8677

Packaging:
It originally came in a plain white box which most of the products do, come in a box I mean, not all of them are white.. some are purple, some black, some yellow, some multicolored. ANYWAY.
And the container itself is plain, one might even call it “ordinary” which I’m guessing is kind of the point.
It’s hygienic because of the awesome dropper, and it’s easy to control how much product you dropehdidrop out.

Texture & Smell:
img_8679

It’s just the right amount of runny, unlike it’s friend I’m going to talk about tomorrow; that shit is a hot mess. It’s really room temperature, but you get my point.
img_8679
It spreads evenly, and a little goes a long way, which is awesome. Not only is the product cheap, but it will last you a while, and that’s always a victory.
It does take a little while to soak in, but it’s worth the wait you guys, promises!

Smell wise.. I got nothing, maybe a hint of clean and natural, but it smells close to nada. Might be that my nose is out of order, so let me know if you have this, and have sniffed out a different scent. I would love to know if I have a broken sniffer I didn’t know about!

So how do I like it so far?
I was sceptical the first week, I didn’t really think it would do anything, and when I didn’t see any results after four days, I wasn’t impressed, but being the impatient soul I am, I continued to test it for almost two weeks before I realized that it was indeed doing wonders for me! We’re not talking extreme makeover wonders, but it’s slowly de-puffing the area I once considered damned, and I haven’t looked this awake in.. well I can’t remember.. It’s that good.
And that’s just the results I’ve had in the last three weeks. I’m sure that the effects will get better over time, because this seems to be one of those products that’s in it for the long haul, and sure, I’ll stick with it, cause girl, I wanna have them glowy glam eyes!

Rating:

Scent: 9/10 Can I really rate it when it doesn’t give off a scent?

The facts about the cream haven’t changed since last, but the impression on the other hand..
I only used it for a week and a half, not going to lie, and yesterday I was contemplating if this belonged in the review or rant of the week section. That’s how little we got along in the end.. Which is a shame, because there’s a certain appeal when it comes to me and fermented ingredients, they’re supposed to be these mythical creatures of awesome, dedicating their life to help fix my skin issues. That’s the picture I have in my head at least, the truth is much less colorful and funny. But the fact that fermented ingredients are good guys helping you help your skin isn’t unfunny. Imagine regular ingredients with superpowers. There has to be some truth to this, considering that western skincare brands are slowly getting on that hype train.

Anyway, for those of you that haven’t read the first impression on this proudct, here is a link. For those of you that have, yes, there is a little copy-paste here and there, but I’ve made sure to sprinkle new opinions and thoughts almost everywhere!

As I mentioned in the earlier post, this one made it’s way to me because I was bored with the eye cream I already had. It didn’t really give me any visible results, and I was having unrealistic expectations of fireworks and no bag eyes, which says a lot only having tried one AB eye cream, but then again I’ve never been much for eye creams. Not only are they white, heavy and scream of grease and milia consistensy wise, but the ones I’ve tried feel heavy when I put them on, which instantly makes me fear that they’re going to clog my pores and make me break out in dance, or in big old pimples that want to live under my eyes forever.

So yes, let’s just get down to the experience of this product, shall we?

Packaging:
Simple and boring, but then again, not all manufacturers focus their marketing towards a fancy exterior, rather than a well working product. It does actually say “Pure Natural Skin Care” on the tube, so that’s their aim, I guess.
Grey tube with a little shine to it, and a black little top. I do like the fact that it comes in a tube, for me it’s easier to get the right amount out and it’s more hygienic than a tub or jar.

Texture & Smell:
“It doesn’t really smell that much, but I’m still full of snot and everything not so nice so my nose can’t be trusted. I have however consulted with Mrs. Mother, and she describes it as a very subtle hint of peach/apricot. So basically it doesn’t really smell that much.
The consistency I would describe as white creamy goo, like any other eye cream basically.” <- Straight from the FI.
The texture is still the same, but my nose is up and not running again, so this time I can actually smell it myself, the wonders of the world, dudettes.
She was really good at sniffing out the faint odor of apricot, but there is also an underlying hint of something else, like mushrooms or warm pool water. Not a bad scent, but a little something other than the sweetness if you get my whiff.
It doesn’t smell like death, and the scent doesn’t linger, it disappears eventually, so we’re all good!

The cream itself spreads nicely and you’re left with a slightly dewy finish once the product has absorbed properly.
So it get’s an extra point, just for not being oily overload yuckness. But it kind of stops there.
It didn’t really have any competition in the performance department, considering that the guy he was running against really didn’t do anything noticeable, so why did you fail me, you galactic mice?!
We had a good thing going the first week, it hydrated and I like to think that he helped a little with the bags under my eyes, but this was not a relationship made to last.
When we were halfway through the second week I started noticing little annoying white bumps under my eyes, goddamnit. And we all know the hassle of getting rid of those things. For me it can take up to a month before they show signs of evacuating the premises, and let me tell you, it feels like years for an impatient soul like me.

I’m used to products failing me, so it didn’t come as a shock, but I have to admit that I was a bit bummed out. This eye cream was supposed to be my ride or die bitch, but instead it rode into the sunset and left me to die! Well, at least it felt like that, but I’m over it, I swear!
But this is only my experience with this product, I’m hoping that others have better results with it, because we don’t all have to be unlucky in the search for glowing healthy under eye skin!
I can also report that I have found something else that works like a gem, and I will have a post up and running about it later this week!
